Hi! We’re UtahMan & Wife, married for 23+ years and going strong. We live in Northern Utah on the side of a cool mountain with hiking trails nearby, and a bunch of deer wandering in our yard eating our bushes (we appreciate the free edging service). Both of us are graduates of the University of Utah, and loyal fans.
UtahMan: (aka Jeff) An Accountant by day and a devout “Ute Fan” 24/7 I like being the resident Grill-Master and head honcho (Wife is rolling her eyes). I lived in France for 2 years and travelling to Paris is on my bucket list. I love holidays, especially Christmas (and yes, Virginia, I believe in Santa Claus). Wife humors me by listening to endless play-by-play action, stats reports, and Pac 12 updates.
“I AM A UTAH MAN, SIR…Ki-Yi!”
Wife: (aka Holly) A Program Coordinator by day and a singer by night, I’m attempting to become a gardener so that we can “live off the land” when “THE BIG ONE” comes (aka, the imminent Utah earthquake-of-death). I plan to write a book someday. (It will be brilliant, of course, and make us millionaires). UtahMan attends all of my performances, and humors me by listening to endless rants about unexpected tempo changes, pitch discrepancies and dreaded minor 7th chords.
In June 2012 we created this blog to track our weight-loss and journey to health. On June 15th, 2012 we began our experiment with the strange but intriguing “HcG Therapy” weight-loss protocol, in the hope of losing our middle-aged flab and finding our ‘sexy thang’!
In two 40-day rounds, UtahMan lost over 75 lbs of fat, and a lot of inches (transforming from size 46 slack to 34 and from size XXL shirts to Medium). Wife was able to eliminate all blood pressure medications as well as eliminate sleep-apnea, and lowered my cholesterol to “normal” range, and a lot of other cool healthy changes!
In 3 rounds, Wife lost over 60 lbs of fat, and a lot of inches (transforming from size 16 to 6 and from size XL shirt to XS). She has also enjoyed other amazing changes and life-changing things!
We were even featured on TV (can you believe it?). With our newly acquired energy, we are now trying fitness challenges [even entering races!], which we invite you to follow along, or join with us [check out our “Challenge Page” for our race schedule]!
Meanwhile, our two kids decided to grow up and spread their wings, leaving our “semi-empty nest” filled with 1 Dog, 1 Cat, 1 Bird and one heck of a pile of debt.
(people in Utah say “heck” a lot).
We have lots of random stories to tell and adventures ahead. Thanks for visiting and sharing the journey!
