We’ve come full circle! Last Friday the two of us embarked on our first day of HcG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) hormone drops in our weight-loss experiment. 1. Today’s Myth Buster
Contrary to popular belief MUSCLE DOES NOT WEIGH MORE THAN FAT – It’s density, not weight, that matters! (i.e. why it is important not to obsess over the numbers on your scale without checking the numbers on a tape measure)
2. More Fun With Barbies
In yesterday’s post Wife shared some new “creepy doll” virtual body tools people might use for purchasing clothing, and for diet visualization & motivation (or simply getting a good scare). Today, we bring you some new photos thanks to an alert reader from our Facebook Support Group called My Virtual Model!
Yeah, well. . . of course the tool doesn’t allow you to add “muffin-top belly”, Stretch marks, varicose veins, extra wrinkles, saggy baggy skin, overgrown nose hair…etc. It also doesn’t allow to add “muscles”, which UtahMan plans to do! But, you get the idea. Who says playing Barbies has to be just for kids? We coudn’t help ourselves.
The two of us still find the whole virtual reality “create-a-clone” tools a tad unsettling. After all, we were raised in the an era of Technology Phobia! It seems that some of the most memorable movies of our younger years were sci-fi horror flicks playing upon our collective fears of computers taking over the world. Who can forget such classic anti-technology films such as WAR GAMES (w/ a young Matthew Broderick), Logan’s Run (Wife still loves this cheesy flick!), Westworld – (an adult vacation-land populated by humanoids gone wrong, starring Yul Brenner), and one of our personal favorite computer-generated-clone “horror flicks”: (the original 1975) Stepford Wives.
Ah, good times!
Moral of the story for today? Perhaps while struggling to obtain “our ideal” body or attain the “perfect life” we should consider weighing the cost involved, and whether our goals are actually healthy and realistic. This little chart is particularly helpful for a “reality check” on our goal weight. (we both added 10 pounds to our target after studying this)
Just a little food for thought as we continue to visualize our “after” selves! – UM&W
